My methodology in teaching focuses on the fundamental understanding of mathematics. By helping my students build a strong mathematical foundation, it improves their logic and reasoning skills, making it easier for them to grasp an understanding of higher level theories in both physical and theoretical fields.
Additionally, this foundation can then be applied to any STEM field, enabling an easier path of progression towards the subject they may wish to pursue, be it physics through to biology.
By focusing on the underlying concepts of mathematics, I enable a student to develop the critical skill of learning how to think for themselves, such that they can begin to think analytically about the new topics they will come across, as opposed to taking in new concepts at face value and regurgitating rules they have been told, but do not understand.
The end goal of my role as the students tutor is to help develop a students skill in these fields far enough that they no longer need to be tutored, and are able to begin tackling new topics without guidance; a valuable life skill that will help them in their careers far beyond the university level.
My background in youth education begins with volunteering for a youths activities group as team leader, in charge of group activities and planning. My experience with young students then progressed to personal tutoring for struggling students in secondary school as a student mentor during my free periods, helping them grasp tricky concepts and helping with homework over a wide range of subjects.
Previously in secondary school, I achieved two A-grade mathematics GCSE's and an A-grade for my Mathematics A level.
I am currently on the path to graduating from the University of Southampton with first class honours in physics, and I will be continuing my studies into a Masters degree in Engineering, focused on Engine propulsion systems for Automotive and Aeronautical industries.
Perfect! Great tutor, very knowledgeable, patient and reliable
Good student who is willing to learn. Could do more self revision between sessions so as to cover more content and to locate weaknesses earlier.
I've known Anthony for 3 years now and can say that he is a very reliable person. He is very dedicated to his studies (Physics) and as a result does very well on his course, so I'm sure he's more than capable in aiding people who are struggling in Physics.
Anthony is a brilliant tutor. We met at Sixth Form where we became friends and Anthony assisted me in parts of maths which I was struggling with, as well as helping with exam questions and explaining things in comprehensive terms. Anthony is also passionate about physics so I’m sure he’d enjoy teaching others.
Anthony is an enthusiastic, determined and positive tutor with a passion for physics and a keenness for mathematical ability and teaching. Whilst harboring a good ability to convey, he is also patient and understands the importance of providing support and encouragement whilst tailoring to suit the needs of individuals.
