I am a third year student studying creative writing at the University of Gloucestershire. I am intending to further my knowledge of the writing world with a masters degree in publishing.
I enjoy passing on what I know to those who might need the help that tutors and teachers can't provide in a class environment. I like to tailor my lessons to each individual because we are all different and everyone learns at a different speed to others.
My creative and academic lessons include an area of focus, such as imagery, and they are split in two parts. The first part of the lesson is giving an overview of the topic and how to approach it, with examples. The second half is a chance to give it a go and either edit a piece in a workshop format or to attempt to write something new and then review it.
My exam prep lessons are very similar in that there is a focus and it comes in two parts. The first part also covers the focus and gives examples of good practice. The second part is for the generation of revision materials and practice of working in exam conditions - especially useful for those who find exams daulting and struggle with time constraints.
I take my lessons seriously but I am a very friendly person who likes to have a laugh and have passionate conversations about my subject as it's something I absolutely love. I'd like to inspire that passion in my students.
I have over 6 months of giving one to one tuition to primary school children as a form of after school support. I spoke to the teachers of those children and they have all commented on how much they can see that it helps and the parents agree.
