I am a 21 year old Natural Sciences student at the University of Cambridge who tutors A level and GCSE level Chemistry, Maths and Physics. In my lessons I tend to focus in on the key areas that the student struggles with, and then give the student the necessary help with the theory. I find that examples are then often the best way to get a concept across in the most clear and concise way.
I have tutored a couple of people over the past few years at GCSE level and A level. I have always enjoyed tutoring, even on an informal level - when I was at school, I often spent many hours helping other people with the subjects that I enjoyed - it was often very rewarding doing this, as people were often very appreciative for my help. I would say I'm empathetic towards younger students and I can often find ways of relating difficult concepts to easier analogies that really helps students to get their heads around these concepts.
I am currently in my fourth year studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University. I chose to continue Materials Science as my main subject in third year, but i have studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry in great detail, and have a good understanding of all of these subjects. In first year I achieved a first class result, notably obtaining 74% in the Chemistry module and 88% in Maths.
At School, I achieved all A*s at GCSEs and 4A*s at A level in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry, so I know the tricks to help people to succeed in public exams. At School, I also took part in many extra curricular science and maths based olympiads and challenges so i have experience in taking exams that require a different style of thinking to conventional examinations. I have always enjoyed helping and teaching people in the subjects that I excelled at, and so I've decided to take up tutoring when I'm away from university.
Highly intelligent and very capable at the subjects he tutors, James also manages not to compromise the ability to help a tutee to understand a topic or concept. He has a very friendly demeanour and always stays patient and understanding with his tutees, being sensitive to different learning styles and tailoring his help accordingly. Very impressive and I can’t recommend him enough!
