Soon-to-be 1st class History graduate at the LSE, based in London. Training Contract Offer Holder at White & Case LLP. Tutor A-level History (& degree), Biology, French, Chemistry and Law (& degree).
Online tutoring or tutoring in central London, using different methods to help pupils learn in the best way e.g. tests, essay writing, quizzes, drawing, reading, etc. I can tutor A-level students (or IB students, but preferably A-level students) and undergraduates (History and Law). Subjects tutored: History (up to degree level), Law (specifically Public Law and Public International Law), Chemistry (AS), Biology (A2), French (A2).
- Last summer I helped tutor an IB student History.
- Former Secretary and Vice-President of the LSESU History Society. I have led a number of sessions helping provide advice and tips to other undergraduate History students.
- Previously helped teach classes in A-level French at my old sixth form.
While I do not have masses of teaching experience, I have much experience at university and at learning! I think this is invaluable as I can then understand how to use certain methods to best teach other pupils. I am soon to graduate with a first in History at the LSE.

~~ 187 Fleet Street Chambers ~~
At 187 Fleet Street Chambers, I shadowed criminal barristers across various London crown courts, covering a range of cases, from theft to white-collar crime. The week improved different skills: communication (improved by learning from and watching advocates present in court, counsel clients and work effectively with solicitors; succinct note taking in court); attention-to-detail (following cases and relaying key information to barristers), and professionalism.
~~ Haley Guiliano LLP ~~
At Haley Guiliano, an IP law firm, I interned under the supervision of partner Peter Hale. I prepared bundles for court, organised correspondence, proofread, and met with Peter to discuss cases and IP law. Skills developed: communication/teamwork (working with Peter, paralegals and IP experts), organisation (bundling), attention-to-detail (proofreading complex legal documents) and commercial awareness.
~~ Farrar's Building Chambers ~~
Skills developed primarily reflect those during my most recent pupillage at 187 Fleet Street Chambers: communication, organisation, accuracy/attention to detail, litigation and professionalism.
~ Hospitality and health-care ~
For many years I have worked across an array of different restaurants, including On The Rocks. At On The Rocks I worked full-time as a waiter and bar-tender to save for university. Working in a very busy restaurant improved a number of important skills: communication (customer communication i.e. appropriately dealing with complaints), teamwork and leadership (busy shifts required effective teamwork, and proactive leadership in different situations i.e. accommodating early customers), organisation (to ensure quality service across a large number of tables), efficiency and resilience (working under pressure during busy shifts).
I also worked briefly as a Healthcare Assistant throughout 2015 at different hospitals across Torbay, caring for a variety of patients in a number of different ways. These included monitoring patients’ vital signs, one-on-one supervising, recording patients’ notes as well as cleaning and bathing patients. Skills developed: communication (safe and excellent care necessitates compassion, empathy, good listening skills, communication and teamwork); organisation and working well under pressure (caring for a large number of patients); and professionalism.
James is charming, reliable, intelligent and communicative. He makes every lesson a joy and I would warmly recommend him.
