I start my teaching by talking to my students and getting to know what their goal is. It doesn’t have to be specific, it could be just wanting to get better at moving your body. Or it could be very particular, like getting to a dance school. Either way, I’ll use individual approach to every student, to make sure they are getting the most of our time together and do something they like, dance to the music they’re passionate about and feel comfortable. If there’s something students don’t like, I encourage them to talk to me and let me find a different way of passing my knowledge onto them. It’s always professional but also fun. The lessons are based on communication between me and the student, building trust and establishing clear goals for the lessons. For dance, I always start with techinque and then go onto a choreography incorporating the techinque just learned. Pilates is always about both exercising and nutrition, as well as mental health. It’s really important to me that students feel good about themselves, because what they do is so valuable. They make the decision to be healthy and they go through steps to become the best versions of themselves. I’m just there to guide them.
I’ve been a pilates instructor for a year now, teaching both individuals and groups. I’ve spent most of this time in the gym, learning from other instructors and nutritionists and gathering my own understanding of this sector of fitness. As a dance student I focus a lot on how to properly prepare your body for dance routines and how to learn proper techniques as to not hurt yourself. For many years before I started my degree I’ve been struggling with eating habits and figuring out how to build a healthy relationship with my body. I understand how hard it is to make peace with your own physique and I can help You go through that journey, just like I did. As for dance technique, my skills focus on commercial, hip hop and contemporary. If you’re thinking of a dance school or being a professional dancer, I can help You get to that point where You’re confident enough to call Yourself a dancer, apply to a dance course and participate in auditions.
