In my opinion a teacher should have knowledge and understanding of the instrumental skill, should be open-minded and interested, should have communications skills, musical imagination and sensitivity and also be organized.
I'd also like to share my personality and enthusiasm about music and be inspirational. I like to keep my pupils interested, motivated and excited about playing music while making lessons fun and full of varying activities that will engage their minds.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I'm a versatile performer with a lot of experience in orchestra and chamber music. Played in the most important orchestras in Portugal as well as the European Union Youth Orchestra with world renowned conductors and where I've been Principal and Co-principal. As I am mostly an orchestral player I give a lot of importance to orchestral excerpts in my lessons and I try to incorporate orchestral repertoire as much as I can, not only giving the students the opportunity to engage in the world of symphonic music, but also showing them how the orchestra works, what are the roles of the other instruments, what is a conductor and how all the pieces of the puzzle come together to make the wonderful music that we aften see in the graet halls around London.
I have tought privatly in Portugal, both double bass and music theory. I can teach in Portuguese and English and I also understand and speak a little bit of spanish.
