I am a mature, professional tutor who will quickly understand your weaknesses and your preferred learning style to make the most of your lessons. My lessons are always individualised and well prepared in advance, with plenty of interaction and fun.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I specialise in economics, finance and accounting, as well as writing training. Please note that I do not teach it econometrics/quantitative methods nor maths.
I have been a full time tutor for over 5 years building on my long professional teaching and training experience.
Given my wide-ranging experience, I can provide additional study material for university students who struggle with their own, create visually engaging spreadsheets for those who find finance abstruse, stimulate the intellectual curiosity of my A-level students, create bespoke courses for professionals looking to gain a better understanding of the economics, finance and accounting required in their jobs and act as a knowledgeable and patient tutor for students struggling with their dissertations.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I have a first class degree and a PhD in economics. I am also a qualified accountant and a Supervisory Analyst (New York Stock Exchange series 16 qualification).
- How much do you charge?
I charge £85 for 1 hour lesson, £120 for 1 and a half hour lesson and £150 for 2 hours (either in person or online).
Please note that I require payment through my bank account before your lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I teach at my home in Islington, N1, London, where I have a very conducive teaching environment with a large computer screen, lots of natural light, comfy chairs and silence. My home is about 10 minutes walk from Highbury & Islington tube station; if you come by car, you can park in my drive.
- When are you available?
Availability varies widely, so please enquire but in general includes early morning, early evening and weekends as well as school holidays
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach from A-level upwards. I have experience in teaching all ages and often teach adults.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I often tutor online through Skype/Zoom - this can be very effective for some students.
I also do a lot of work through email, when commenting on essays and dissertations.
- What kind of experience do you have?
Before going freelance, I worked for 10 years in the Research department of Morgan Stanley - assessing economic research for publication and training the department were my core responsibilities.
I have been tutoring in economics for 5 years. During this time, I have tutored at many levels, from AS-level to postgraduate, young people as well as mature students. Please see below to get an idea of the breath of my experience.

Just letting you know that my economics exams went really well and I cannot thank you enough for helping me this year!
Gio, I must say, I left your home with a big smile on my face! I cannot tell you how much better I feel after just one session. I am thrilled that I was matched with you because I can see how wonderful of a teacher you are. Your ability to explain things in a very clear and understanding way is such a relief to someone like myself who has previously found finance rather difficult and confusing.
