Very Experienced Languages Teacher, English, French and Spanish online classes and conversation

Methodology

I have been living and teaching languages for the past 28 years in Colombia. I have considerable experience teaching children, adolescents and adults.

I like to work from home and teach online. This is because I can avoid the long bus journey to Barranquilla my closest big city , that involves a round trip of over three hours; it also enables me to teach all over the world from the comfort of my own home.

I am a former international road racing cyclist, I competed in both France and Italy. Having gained a Masters degree in Modern Languages, French with Spanish I decided to settle in Colombia where I had previously spent a sabbatical year during my degree studies.

I am a keen photographer and amateur film maker, in addition I enjoy creative writing.

My classes are primarily conversation classes but I am also able to provide help with writing, both formal and informal and presentations.

Classes can be taught either using only audio or audio and video, this choice is offered to the student.

I look forward to meeting you and to helping you in achieving your goals.

Very best wishes,

James

Experience

I have been teaching for aprroximately 30 years.

I have taught thousands of students of all ages.

I have helped my students to achieve success in a variety of international exams: TOEFL, Cambridge, English, French and Spanish IGCSE (International Certificate of Secondary Education) IB (International Bachalaureate), A Level English French and Spanish.

Barranquilla, August 14, 2006

To Whom It May Concern,

It is a pleasure to recommend to you Mr. JAMES RICHARD WALTER BAXTER. Mr. Walter was employed by Marymount for 4 years, under separate contracts for each academic year. His first began in August of 2002. His last began in August of 2005, and concluded on June 14th, 2006. James was a member of our Primary School faculty and was employed as a self-contained First Grade teacher responsible for English, math, science and social studies.

Marymount is a private, Catholic, bilingual, Nursery through High School college preparatory institution located in Barranquilla, Colombia. It is approved by the Colombian Ministry of Education with a rating of ninety-nine percent (99%). All of Marymount's graduates pursue undergraduate studies in Colombia, the United States, or Europe.

During his time with us, Mr. Walter maintained a good record of attendance and always exhibited a professional appearance. Within the classroom, he was very creative, sociable, and dedicated to his students, motivating them to do their best and improve their fluency in English. Especially notable was Mr. Walter's class spirit during intramurals and his appreciation for Colombian holidays and traditions. His command of Spanish allowed him to develop a wonderful rapport with his students' parents as well as to integrate more completely into his school and social communities.

Re: Letter of Recommendation

Dear Sir / Madam,

For the past two years I have had the pleasure of knowing James Walter as a friend, a colleague and most recently as his supervisor. He´s a dedicated member of our Upper Primary staff and an outstanding individual. James has been employed at the Colegio Britanico de Cartagena for the past two years and has been responsible for teaching English, Mathematics, and Science to children at grade three and six levels.

Mr. Walter impressed me with his commitment to teaching and his desire towards learning. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he was in charge of coordinating our English programmes in Upper Primary and for contributing and editing our school newspaper. He developed an excellent rapport with students and parents and was a highly respected member of our team of educators. James was responsible for preparing students for their transition to High school, this included introducing Grade Six children to the school Science Lab., preparing for International English examinations, and instilling work habits and study skills that will help them succeed at the next level.
During James´ time at the Colegio Britanico he has not only shown a strong commitment to academics but also to extra-curricular initiatives.
He started a lunchtime cricket programme, ran an after-school French Club, worked hand-in-hand in promoting environmental awareness with our parents´ ‘Green Group and supervised intramural sports like skating, soccer and American Football.

Mr. Walter´s natural ability to guide children in their learning process in combination with his creativity and professionalism lead me to strongly recommend him for any future teaching endeavours he sets his mind to.

Sincerely,

Steven Desroches
Upper Primary Coordinator

To whom it may concern,
I have had the good fortune to have worked with James in my capacity as Head of Lower School and have found him to be a compliant and amenable colleague.

James has run a tutor group involving some troublesome individuals and has coped well, establishing an atmosphere of trust and co-operation. In addition to his pastoral duties he has volunteered for, and run, the Homework Club, an after school gathering designed to give help to struggling students.

I have been more than satisfied with his level of commitment to his pastoral duties and trust he will find similar success in his future post.

Please feel free to contact me should you have any further queries.

Yours sincerely

MICHAEL L. WINKWORTH.

Re: Reference for James Walter

I am writing to confirm that James Walter successfully completed his phase of the PGCE in Partnership Community Focused Program with us here at Development Education in Dorset (DEED) during 12th to 15th June 2000. During his time at DEED, James showed great enthusiasm, interest and dedication to our work and that of development education.

James' input was much appreciated by all the staff members at DEED. In particular, James assisted the administration worker in copying, compiling and distributing our termly newsletter. He also assisted project workers in setting up and staffing a display of development education resources at a NQT training day for Middle School teachers at Leeson House, Dorset. James also catalogued a large number of new education resources which have been recently purchased for use in schools.

Throughout the placement James' willingness to support our work here at DEED, and his interest and knowledge of development education was very beneficial. His friendly disposition, communication and team working skills meant he settled into the office very easily.
