I am a very experienced Swimming Teacher and Coach as outlined by my CV and am very familiar with working on a 1:1 and 1:2 basis with pupils and fully endorse the benefits to the student (s) of working in this way; i.e. students learn at a faster rate and in a more personable way. They also benefit from more technical instruction (not necessarily delivered in a complicated manner however!) in this type of scenario. I already work for a company which adopts this approach and have found the progress of the pupils to be more enhanced as a consequence. I also work with special populations i.e. Downs Syndrome, Autistic, Asperger's pupils as well as those who have sensory issues. These pupils learn better in a 1:1 environment and possibly would never have had the same positive learning experience had they tried to learn in a group situation.
I am passionate about swimming and continue to compete at Masters Level in England. I currently hold 9th position in my age-group for the 50m breaststroke and was the Regional Champion for 100m butterfly in my youth.
I believe swimming to be a life skill as essential for survival as reading and writing. I also believe it to be a major stress relieving activity that when performed with confidence and enjoyment can change the mental demeanour of the person and provide an uplifting mood and a positive attitude.
I am a qualified ASA Level 2 Teacher and Level 3 Coach having taught for over 15 years. I am also a fitness instructor (Level 2). I have taught lots of students, including, competitive, nervous adults, autistic children, parent and baby and young children.
Rates may vary depending on the level of student and the number of students in the class.
Coach and Swimming Teacher
Walthamstow Hall School - Sevenoaks - May 2009 to July 2015 and July 2015 to present –
Strategic delivery of the swim programme, support to the Mentoring Programme of the Students to train them in the delivery of swimming to the younger swimmers (with supervision). Organisation of courses for the senior swimmers to enhance their swimming performance as well as land training capability.
I have been and am still involved at a strategic level in the delivery of the competitive swim programme within the School. I have taught swimming to pupils in Years 3-6 in lesson time. I train the girls to a high standard and for the past 3 years we have been in the National Schools Finals at Senior School level. I have carried out all the administration related to the job; match reports, gala programmes, putting swimmers in races, dealing with parent queries, also completing school reports for all those taught in lesson time during the school day. I have kept meticulous records of attendance and achievements. In the Senior School, I have delivered lessons in water polo, life-saving and synchronised swimming to 3 x Year 8 Groups during class time.
During my time at this job, I have put the school "on the map" in relation to its swimming and we are now attracting students to the School because of its swimming provision and status. I also try to ensure that the young people in the school work with me as poolside helpers when they are old enough to do so. This ensures that all swimmers feel part of a team and experience the value of what they are doing and leave a legacy behind for those who come through the school after them. I very much promote the "team" ethos amongst the girls. I also work on their all-round development focusing on nutrition and fitness (I am a Level 2 fitness instructor through Premier Training). Our Senior Swimmers have attended Clinics run by Adam Peaty’s Coach, Mel Marshall at her Swim Inspiration Site at the Repton School, Derbyshire and we have an on-going relationship with the Company.

Ability to ensure students enjoy their time in the pool
Administrative skills and computer skills
Tactical skills when dealing with parents and confidential issues
Visionary and strategic skills to see where the team is going and how we can improve performance together
Determination to increase my knowledge of the swimming world and to attend continuous professional development courses to bring that knowledge back to the job. (I have attended seminars and coaching camps at Bath University during the time that Commonwealth and Olympic swimmers were being considered for selection. I have also attended clinics and swim camps at Swim Inspiration, The Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, which are run by Mel Marshall (Olympian) who is the current coach to Adam Peaty, World Record Holder for the 50m and 100m breaststroke).
Swimming Instructor at Dymond Swimming, Sevenoaks 2012 – Present
I work as a Swimming Instructor at Dymond Swimming, Sevenoaks, a privately-owned Swim School in Sevenoaks. During my time there, I have instructed a large age-range of children in classes of 4-6 students following the ASA / Swim England Learn to Swim Programme and using my experience and knowledge as a Swim Teacher and Coach i.e. using drill practices to improve stroke and technique and skills. I have written many of the lesson plans and coaching plans for the Swim School at the request of its Manager, with whom I work closely. I also teach Adult Groups at this Swim School. In addition I have delivered teaching methods and skills sessions to the Teachers employed by the Swim School at Training Days organised by the Manager of the Swim School.

Some of my work here has been as a result of covering lessons at the site, following which the attendees have asked for 1:1 lessons with me. I also work with young school children and deliver after-school swimming lessons at this site following the ASA/Swim England Learn to Swim Programme.
Swimming Instructor for Swim Expert
February 2017 – Present
I work for Swim Expert providing 1:1 and small group lessons. I particularly work with children who have attention difficulties and conditions such as Autism. I write a report on each child each week so that they and their parents can read about what we have covered and what progress has been made or what difficulties have been encountered and what I am doing to address these. This can be very rewarding work for children who have struggled in large group lesson environments.
