I am experienced in teaching the violin at all levels of music development, from beginners to advanced students. I teach children as well as adults and I can prepare you for ABRSM exams.
I teach in a fun and engaging way, making it my priority to inspire the student and pass on my passion for music! I include technique (scales and exercises), as well as work on studies and pieces in every lesson and I draw on my experience from Yoga and Alexandre Technique to make sure my students play in a relaxed and comfortable manner.
I am currently an intern at the Royal Academy Junior Department in the First Strings Experience program, where I work with children ages 4-7.
I can teach in both English and Portuguese.
I’m Inês Bastos, a Portuguese violinist. Over the years, I have collected experience as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, in venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Royal Albert Hall, the Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, the National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, Casa da Música in Oporto, Die Glocke Bremen, Kongress Palais Kassel and the Duke’s Hall in London.
As an orchestral musician, I have been collaborating with several professional orchestras and have been invited as a leader to collaborate with the Giovane Ensemble, the Cavatina Orchestra and the Anstieg Symphony Orchestra. This July, I played in a concert at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms.
I’m completing the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM) this year, having learned with the renowned pedagogues Paul Harris and Diana Cummings. Recently, I graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the RAM where I studied with Jack Liebeck.
I’m currently playing on a violin by Giuseppe Gagliano (Naples, 1791), kindly on loan by the Royal Academy of Music.
Perfect! Just had my first lesson with Inês, she was inspiring and encouraging and gave me lots of technical advice and practice tips. Looking forward to my next lesson!
Inês and I met at the start of our Master's degrees at the Royal Academy of Music and I have now known her for over two years. Together we formed a violin and piano duo and have performed extensively, in London and Portugal.
She is working towards the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music with Paul Harris, which means that she has been trained by some of the best instructors on music tuition.
Inês is a phenomenal violinist and musician with an incredibly kind disposition. She is hugely driven and focused but cares deeply for those around her.
I used to play the violin and recently started again. Inês gave me a couple of lessons and I can vouch that she is a very good teacher with a sound approach and technique. I highly recommend her!
