I am a friendly, experienced and enthusiastic female music teacher with a postgradute performance diploma from the RNCM and an Artist Diploma from the RCM.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach the violin to people of all ages and standards.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
My qualifications include a BMus(Hons) from the University of Manchester, a PGDip from the Royal Northern College of Music, and an Artist Diploma from the Royal College of Music.
I also play with orchestras including Manchester Camerata and New London Orchestra. I have played at the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and have recently toured with the orchestra.
I was a member of Southbank Sinfonia 2011. I have played on Tony Hadley's (Spandau Ballet), Russell Watson's 'Only One Man' UK tour and worked with other artists including Katherine Jenkins, Dionne Warwick and The Last Shadow Puppets. Most recently I have toured with the band ABC and performed with them on the Royal Variety Performance 2016.
In addition to the violin, I also have my ABRSM Grade 8 in both piano and saxophone.
- How much do you charge?
My rates for violin lessons are £35 per hour and £20 per half hour. Please note that you must buy your own violin before commencing lessons and that I do not have violins to lend to students. Do feel free to contact me if you need advice on buying the right size for you/your child and for advice on where to purchase the instrument, and I will do my very best to help. I am happy to offer a free consultation lesson.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from my home which is in central Bedford.
- When are you available?
I teach during the week and at the weekend, daytime and evening. Due to my being a freelance musician, I am extremely flexible. If for whatever reason I am unable to teach on a particular day of the week I will always endeavour to make up for this on another weekday/evening.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages and standards are very welcome!
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I would be happy to prepare pupils for all ABRSM and Trinity grades and beyond to Conservatoire level. However, not all students are interested in taking exams and simply want to learn the violin, and this is also fine!
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Playing a musical instrument is extremely rewarding, whether it is to take exams or to take up a new hobby. It is never too late to learn, so if you have thought about it, give it a go!
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching the violin privately to children and adults for the last eight years. I have also participated in outreach work and education workshops within schools around the UK. I have been violin tutor on the Tuesday Music School course at the Blackheath Conservatoire, teaching groups of children and taking the orchestra, and am currently violin tutor at Parkgate House School in Clapham, London.
I have a 100% ABRSM and Trinity exam pass rate and have successfully entered students into the National Children's Orchestras of Great Britain.
