I'm a professional violinist teaching children and students how to master playing violin
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
- Tell me about your qualifications.
BA Mus (Hons), MA Mus (Hons) Violin Solo (performing), Chamber Orchestra (performing), Violin (teaching) at the Lithuanian Academy od Music and Theatre
In October 2010 I have attained qualified teacher status (QTS) certifying that I meet the requirements for employment in maintained schools and non-maintained special schools in England. Teacher reference number: 1234725. I am fully registered with the General Teaching Council.
- How much do you charge?
£40 per hour, however, with smaller children I tend to shorten the sessions depending on tutee's ability to concentrate, and hence the fee is smaller
- Where do you teach?
The lessons take place in Hampton (TW12), but I have had students coming to my place from as far as Twickenham, Staines, Kensington, Slough, Hounslow or Surbiton. Is it worth travelling? I guess the results speak for themselves. For more information please visit my website mentioned at the top of this page
- When are you available?
Usually Mon-Fri, can do AM. There are a few students I agreed to take on weekend, but this is more an exception
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Some of my tutees are very young - I teach children from as early as 4 years old. My oldest tutee was 16.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Quite a few of my tutees were brand new and started from scratch. The others had tried taking lessons before they found me. I welcome all, as long as they are committed to learn and have good ears. Although I can prepare children for all standard grades (ABRSM or equivalent), I have assisted quite a few of my students with getting to the level of performing that allowed them to win precious music scholarships through various schemes. Obviously, in my class we arrange concerts and public performances. Also, the more talented students get selected for national or international violin competitions and festivals. So, what you see is a full range of violin lessons and aspirations that you may choose from depending on your ambition.
- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
I prefer to teach face to face for I believe this approach is most suitable with children
- What kind of experience do you have?
I had been teaching violin at the National Ciurlionis School of Art in Vilnius for 14 years, had been awarded a status of Supervising Teacher. This school could definitely be considered as an equivalent to Purcell School, Yehudi Menuhin School or Chetham School of Music based on the level of the students it produces globally.
I also spent four years working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pedagogy at Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
Currently, I am working as a private tutor at the Richmond Violin Lessons. In addition to private tuition, since November 2013 I've started teaching in Hampton Court House School.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Where and with whom did you train?

Also studied with Prof. Zenon Brzewski, Prof. Alexander Fisher, Prof. Marina Jashwili, Prof. Wolfgang Marschner, Prof. Sergey Kravchenko

Aiste is unquestionably one of the best violin teachers in the UK today. Having played and taught the violin professionally for many years and studied at both the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music I can attest to her exceptional ability to teach the most effective violin technique and bring music to life in a way that is captivating and motivating for children. My two children's playing has been transformed by her teaching in only a short time [full text reference on www.richmondviolinlessons.co.uk]
Aiste is a truly outstanding teacher and violinist. Her tremendous warmth, upbeat approach to learning, and her obvious passion and skills as a teacher and performer has made it easy for my daughter to maintain her commitment to the violin. Aiste makes serious learning fun and my 5 years old daughter has made rapid progress under her instruction. She knows how to collaborate well with parents too [full text reference on www.richmondviolinlessons.co.uk]
Aiste has been tutoring my daughter Leah for about 5 months now. Prior to this, Leah was never particularly enthused about music, but Aiste has taken her to another level. Herself a concert violinist, she has got a broad experience working in the music school for talented kids in her home country and is an excellent teacher. Her strongest point is her ability to capture pupils' attention and to charmingly yet firmly make learning a pleasure [full text reference on www.richmondviolinlessons.co.uk]
As a member of our teaching staff, Mrs Aiste Dvarionaite was essential in building the excellent reputation of our String Department. She attracted talented students, and other gifted individuals have a keen interest in her teaching. Her sharp intelligence, superior musical knowledge, warm personality and integrity endear her to students whose artistic progress is impressive and who show remarkable affinity and dedication to music and their pedagogue [full text reference on www.richmondviolinlessons.co.uk]
My 6 year old daughter enjoys Aiste's lesson every week. It's not easy, but she works hard to get a champion stamp! My 9 year old son struggles more than his sister because he has lots of habits to be corrected, but he decided to work hard to overcome his problems. Aiste has lots of experience in teaching which I think is very important and she provides high level lessons (which requires lots of patience from children) and we are happy that Aiste became our teacher. Feedback rating 5/5
Aiste's students have become winners of national and international violin competitions. All of them are either continuing or have already their further studies in some other outstanding schools of Europe. Aiste Dvarionaite has not only imbibed the best long-standing traditions of teaching violin play, but has also enriched the methods of its teaching whilst working in the String Department of Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
My 9 years old daughter loves lessons with Aiste. It is not easy to break old habits, but we are thrilled that we find Aiste now! It is wonderful to have such excellent teacher with extensive experience, professionalism, and fantastic way with children. Feedback rating 5/5.
It was apparent from the first lesson that we had found a truly remarkable teacher. Her enthusiastic greetings and passion for music quickly forges a strong bond between the pupils, parents and herself. The methods of teaching vary between pupils and she uses techniques that personally appeal to the individuals' nature. The lessons are very rewarding and the skills taught are the best there are. Aiste is a truly amazing teacher and I would recommend her to everyone.
