- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been teaching the violin for 9 years, primarily for London Music Masters (a musical charity that provides children with free instruments and tuition) and London Suzuki Group. I am the Lead Violin Tutor for London Music Masters at Ashmole Primary School where I teach 5 days a week. I teach over 100 kids there every week either individually, in pairs, or in groups, and I also organise and conduct string orchestras. I also run classes for parents and teachers. My teacher training was with Jillian Leddra (London Suzuki Group).
I regularly arrange versions of pieces for violin at the request of my students. If there is anything special you really want to be able to play, I will see what I can do! I also invite students to attend my concerts (often with discount benefits) for some extra music appreciation.
Playing experience - I started learning the violin (Suzuki method) when I was 3 and I'm still enjoying it! I have led and toured with various orchestras, and I currently play regularly for Kensington Symphony Orchestra. I also play a lot of chamber music, mostly in duets and quartets.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
- Tell me about some of your current students.
Several of my former students at Ashmole Primary School have recently been accepted in to the Royal College of Music after showing great promise. Others have received lovely praise from the Head of Junior Strings at the Royal Academy of Music and Trinity. I have also recently had success with several students after entering them for Awards for Young Musicians.

Matthew has taught our son violin for the past 5 years from novice to a young competent musician. Matthew is able to develop a rapport with both student and parents; he is equally patient and attentive to the needs of the child and is able to build their confidence which has also helped our son at school so much so our 5 year old daughter will be starting violin with Matthew this coming September 2013.
I am so glad that my son enjoys practicing his violin so much with Matthew. Not only the core violin pieces, Matthew also helps with his orchestra pieces which really saves my life! The fact that Matthew can also stimulate him on maths issues over the holiday time is an added bonus! A big thank you!
