Warren - Shifnal North - Support For Students With Dyspraxia

Methodology

Hi there, If you need advice help or support contact me and I will guide you through the process.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach all Brass Instruments, Music Theory and Composition.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire on Trombone, Euphonium, Piano and Conducting.
I then studied at the Faculty of Education and Teacher Training in Birmingham.
I taught in the West Midlands initially as a Peripatetic Brass teacher and later as a Classroom teacher.
I became a Director of Music shortly afterwards and spent the majority of my career in that role.

- How much do you charge?

Normally £20.00 per hour but these charges are dependant on such things as Instrumental standard, distance costs etc.
I do negotiate teaching packages and discounted consultation sessions.

- Where do you teach?

I teach from home but can teach at the student's home.

- When are you available?

I am available during the day and in the evening.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach up to and including Grade 8.
Although I have taught students from 6 to 60 years, I tend to specialise in teaching students who come back to the instrument
after a period of time or mature students who want to try an instrument out for the first time (beginners).

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

If students are keen to follow an examination syllabus, I use the Associated Board Of the Royal Schools of Music examinations.

Background

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have had 23 years in the teaching profession, starting as a Brass teacher, Classroom teacher then Director of Music.
I have taught students from 6 years old to 68. However, I spent most of my teaching career as a Director of Music teaching students from 11 to 18 years.
I have taught many students who have gone on to study music at University and have worked in the music business.
In my earlier years I taught 'Musical Youth', a group of students who went straight to no. 1 in the charts with 'PASS THE DUCHIE'.
I have since taught individuals and groups who have similarly enjoyed success in music.

I have played in Orchestras, Pop groups, Brass Bands, Wind Bands, Soul Bands and have performed in most venues in Great Britain and Europe.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Yes
