I have just finished my A-levels and having been a tutor for the new Maths GCSE fro the past two years I am very familiar with this syllabus as well, I am currently studying Maths at Warwick. My tutoring method varies from student to student to suit their learning method. I try to focus on understanding to techniques and problem solving to be able to deal with any questions that may arise, especially with the varying styles of questions with the new syllabuses.
I have been tutoring GCSE students in my school for the past 2 years, with recent students gaining two 6s and a 7 (2Bs and an A in the old system) from their previously predicted D and two Cs. The only AS pupil I had gained an A.
I myself achieved A*A in maths and further maths with As in Chemistry and Physics and gained 9A*s at GCSE, including an A* in Maths and an A in Additional Maths
I also took all three STEP papers, passing all three and achieving a 1 in Paper 1.
I have also completed nationally in maths challenges, gaining a Bronze in the Junior Mathematical Olympiad and distinctions in the Girls Mathematical Olympiad and Intermediate Kangaroo
She was really friendly and build up my confidence with maths. She was really dedicated as well, and even gave me a mock paper of all the stuff I'd learnt so far by going through past papers. Even though she's known for being a maths genius with her Cambridge offer she was surprisingly understanding of my struggles. I'm really happy that I can leave maths behind with a 6 rather than the D I was expecting
