Hello and welcome, I hope you find all the information that you need on this page, but if not feel free to send me a message.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach singing, with a focus on classical technique which enables students explore and establish their own voice and musical personality. From this basis a student can then sing whatever type of music they most enjoy.
I also teach piano and music theory, and all three subjects can be combined.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
Courses I have completed include:
1 year intensive study on the Vocal Studies programme at DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin
ABRSM Introduction to Instrumental and Vocal Teaching
ABRSM CPD Success at the Higher Grades 6-8
I took my Grade 8 singing in 2009, and passed my Grade 6 Music Theory in 2007. I started playing the piano aged 4 and have never stopped, taking grades and training along the way.
- How much do you charge?
For any subject, individual lessons are £25 per hour or £12.50 for 30 minutes.
Joint / shared lesson discounts are also available, please ask.
- Where do you teach?
I teach from home in Sharnford, Leicestershire.
Sharnford is easily accessible from a lot of different locations, being about 20 minutes drive from Leicester, Coventry, Nuneaton, Rugby, Bedworth, Lutterworth, and just 10 minutes from Hinckley or Fosse Park.
There is space to park on our lovely quiet street, and room for parents to sit and wait during their children's lesson if they wish to.
- When are you available?
I teach every day both daytimes and evenings to suit my students, and am happy to continue lessons during the school holidays as required.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
All ages, all levels, male and female.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prepare students for ABRSM or Trinity exams if they wish to follow and examined route.
I have been fortunate to have 100% pass rate for every exam entered, with both ABRSM and Trinity boards.
I can also help with preparation for the performance section of GCSE and A Level exams in Music, Performing Arts, and related subject.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
If you'd like more information about my teaching please don't hesitate to get in touch.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I started teaching singing in 2010, and have since taught a wide variety of students, from primary and secondary school students, working people, college students, and retired singing lovers.
In the past I have prepared students for exams and auditions, helped them with solos for their choirs, developed their confidence in everyday tasks as well as singing, and enhanced their understanding of classical music.
My experience also covers lots of different types of music, including bits of everything from traditional song, opera and classical to musical theatre and pop.
I have a range of experience teaching piano students, from young beginners, to adults restarting a once loved hobby.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
