William - Bloomsbury - Basic computer

Methodology

Learn computer skills that will enhance your CV, expand your business skills and contribute to your personal development. Improve your confidence with spreadsheets, create databases and learn to automate functions. Support for ICT GCSE and A-level.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach:
- Microsoft Office Applications: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access and Outlook.
- Google Apps: Docs, Sheets, Gmail and Drive etc
- ICT to GCSE and A level.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I have a Certificate in Education, HND Computer Studies and HNC Electrical Engineering. I also have Level 3, NVQ Business Management.

- How much do you charge?

One-to-one session, on-line - £45 per hour
One-to-one at student's home or office - £45 plus travel costs
To get the best value of the tuition it may be best to arrange sessions of multiple hours (two or more). This can be in multiple one hour sessions or a single session of several hours. I will offer discounts for purchases of Half day (4 hours) - 10% or Full day sessions (8 hours) -15% which are booked in a single session.

For group sessions, please ask for a quote.

- Where do you teach?

I teach topics on-line using web conference, desktop sharing software, and Skype. I can therefore teach anywhere within the UK timezone.

I can also teach one-to-one at the student's home or office or, if required, I will organise a meeting room. Training at meeting rooms may incur an additional cost to the student. I am based in Camden, London, but I can travel to other parts of the London area as far as Slough, Guildford, St Albans, Dartford, Croyden and Sevenoaks, and similar areas.

- When are you available?

I am available evenings and weekends. I can answer emails during the week and I am available via Skype. Please contact me to discuss a suitable time.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach teenage adult students. Each course will have prerequisite knowledge of the subject they want help on but I can be flexible with the content.

For bespoke courses I will send a list of topic to choose from. Each topic generally takes around an hour to deliver depending on the ability of the student. There is an example of the topic lists in the media files.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I use the on-line desktop sharing software, Jitsi. I can also answer questions via email or chat via Skype (video available).

I will send a list of topics to choose from for inclusion in the course. I will then email the course exercises and a link to the Jitsi Desktop Sharing site. We will use the link on the date of the course to share files during the training, although you can explore the jitsi site at any time. The training session happens on-line and no access is granted to your computer except for webcam and microphone.

Example Baretree Training link - (concealed information)

To find out about the Jitsi opensource destktop sharing software please review the jitsi.org website. A browser app may install to assist the desktop sharing but no other software should install. Control of your webcam and microphone is restored to you once the link is closed. Please ask any questions if you are unsure about this.

Note: I am not responsible for or connected commercially to the jitsi website or its software. You use the site at your own risk.
