I teach practical photography both film and digital. I do this via demonstrations and setting tasks. Photography taught on a trial and error system, the more you do, the better you become. I will critically analyse students work and prepare the students to examine their work critically. I teach the basics of composition and the manual techniques the camera allows. I also teach the history of photography and art and how they both inform each other. I help students with photography theory and essay writing skills if necessary. I am a teacher who is friendly and easy to get along with, I do not dictate to my learners, but I support to get the best of them. I am extremely passionate about both photography and passing on my own knowledge.
I have taught a range of levels from total beginners to level 3 BTEC. The majority of my students have gone on to the higher levels especially onto study photography at university level, this is something I am particularly proud of. I have taught students with learning difficulties, which I have done alot of personal learning on and have a lot of experience in.

I am passionate about education and learning for young people; I believe in the therapeutic and intellectual benefits of young people expressing themselves through visual arts. I am compassionate, patient and respectful when working with Learners. I build trusting professional working relationships with all my Students. It is my barriers to learning and personal experiences which give me the passion and understanding to want to work with and support Learners through their educational journey. I help young people achieve their full potential through education and to grow as individuals.
