I believe in active learning. Students should always know they will be supported but they will be encouraged to develop their own opinions and skills, as this is very important for English especially at GCSE.
In my lessons I will help them with homework and any difficulties they might face, while providing additional resources to consolidate knowledge. This will come in the form of analysing additional texts for language and becoming familiar with the mark scheme and looking at the texts for literature and making sure they understand and can apply the skills of the mark scheme. If needed some homework may be assigned.
I'm a new tutor but have had experience with a few tutees in the past which I voluntarily tutored. In the end all of them managed to achieve grades A and A* in their assessments and so I believe my method has been efficient. I would love to try it with GCSE students but younger one are equally welcome
