Focus on improving vocabulary, spelling and punctuation to create the best writing possible.
I focus particularly on improving academic perfomance, but in conjunction with this I have been employed previously to act as an 'older sister' type in some fashion - to give confidence to younger people struggling with the ups and downs of growing up. I have found that for many students their academic perfomance can align with their self confidence, and thus I act with kindness, patience and understanding.
I am a History of Art student at the University of Bristol.
I have been tutoring for many years now, specialising in the 13+/Common Entrance examinations. I can assists on many fronts for this age group, including English, Maths, Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and Religious Studies/Philosophy.
I achieved all A* in my A-Levels, including English Literature. In addition, I completed the 13+ myself not too long ago, therefore I am knowledgable and experienced with the ins and outs of these exams.
Additionally, I have experience working for learning disability educational support companies, and therefore feel confident assisting children with learning disabilities.
I have a cancellation policy of 24 hours as I prepare my lessons carefully and with good time.
As a tutor I have learned how to be creative in engaging with students with learning disabilities, and discovering new and innovative ways to inspire and motivate them creatively.
I have had to learn to coordinate schedules, keep homework worksheets in line, and systematically organize each of my students’ needs. As a consequence, I have developed organizational skills by balancing all of these areas.
I have developed a real willingness to learn, as despite knowing my subjects to the best of my ability in order to teach them to my students, it is unavoidable to not learn on the job.
In order to teach my students, I have had to be able to clearly explain concepts in a way that is logical and understandable. It’s important that I have been able to explain information without backtracking, sidetracking, and fumbling around a lot as that can confuse my students.
Clear and concise communication is imperative for being a tutor and this is a primary focus of mine.
