I have been teaching Pilates since 2000 and Yoga since 2004. I have taught complete beginners and advanced students alike. If you would like to take your health and fitness into your own hands, learning how to move the body mindfully, improving your posture and overall tone then this is for you. .
As a beginner you would learn everything you need to know including the breathing and as an advanced student you will continually be challenged.
Private sessions are tailor made for the individual, which helps to evolve your practice and understanding of your body.
With 17 years of experience in teaching and a good understanding of the body you can expect to feel the results from your sessions.
Pilates is a system of stretching and strengthening exercises that promote uniform development of the musculature of the body. This allows for the weaker and less developed muscles to activate and strengthen in support of the stronger more developed muscles that the body ordinarily relies on to do the work of daily activities, often creating imbalances. Pilates focuses on the core muscles first, specifically the stomach, buttocks and back, in a sense working the muscles from the inside out. This achieves and maintains a more balanced and aligned body, making movement easier and more comfortable, giving you a sense of power and strength in your body. It is a great addition and support to any other type of sport.

Lucia completed her initial Pilates training in Bermuda in 2000 after which she advanced her training in the US and upon returning to South Africa founded re:form studios in Port Elizabeth and furthered her training with Californian based Rael Isacowitz of Body Arts and Science International.
Lucia relocated to Cape Town in 2004 and for several years worked with Body Technology SA, in this time she got certified to teach Ashtanga Yoga and wrote/published manuals for Pilates Mat work teacher training which she and Andre Oelofse taught from Body Technology. Lucia has taught in Bali and Thailand and teaches both Pilates and Yoga and a powerful combination of the two.

PILATES AND YOGA Re:form Studios & Body technology
I completed my Pilates training with Rael Isacowitz of Body Arts and Science International in 2001 and have had 2 studios since then in different parts of South Africa, one of which still runs in Cape Town, South Africa.
I’m the studio owner and am an experienced teacher, fully qualified to teach on all apparatus, I am also a qualified Ashtanga yoga teacher.
My training started in Bermuda and North Carolina in 2000 and was later updated with BASI in 2001.
After which point I opened a studio that ran successfully in the Eastern Cape in South Africa until I sold it and relocated to Cape Town a different part of South Africa.
I then worked out of a studio called Body Technology and collaborated studio owner André Oelofse, we created various Mat training programs and workshops which we ran successfully over the period I was there from 2004 - 2008. It was during this time that I completed my Astanga teacher training.
In 2008 I reopened Re:form Pilates and the studio has been running since then.
I have offered various workshops for clients and for other instructors, including but not limited to;

• hip stabilization
• foam roller

In addition to teaching I began to work in the property industry selling high end sectional title apartments in Cape Town, South Africa. This was a successful career however after a tragedy in my life I decided the industry was no longer for me.
