I specialise in one to one tutoring because it allows me to tailor each lesson to the individual's needs. I can offer lessons that will lead to the student taking an exam directly as I know the requirements for all the piano grades. If exams are not the objective but to learn the instrument or just to improve I will simply help with whichever area the student would like to work on.
On the whole lessons will consist of technical work, such as scales and arpeggios, music theory which leads to compositional techniques, sight reading and of course pieces.
Upon completion of ABRSM Grade 8 I began a Foundation course in piano performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, which I completed in July 2019.
For the past year I have been offering private lessons to up to 9 students a week and have seen improvement, such as mastery of 12 scales in the first 3 lessons, and most importantly deeper appreciation of the art in my students.
I teach classical music, jazz, blues and rock and roll piano, as well as the electronic keyboard/synthesiser.
I have 8 years of playing experience and a good understanding of music theory. During this time I have given several live performances both solo and as part of a group.
If paying for more than one individual a special price can be arranged.
Travel costs apply only to students living more than 5km away.
Travel costs will not be charged if a lesson pack is bought.
I have a level 3 (college level) music qualification from the European School Culham with a final mark of 98% in this subject.
Furthermore I have a Grade 8 qualification with extra credits (distinction).
My teaching method is highly variable as it all depends on what the student wants to learn. This being said, I always try to instill a creative edge and will teach compositional and improvisational techniques right from the very start so that the student can start jamming straight away.
This is done alongside music theory and technical work so that the player remains in complete control of what he/she is playing.
Finally, I speak Italian at an appropriate level for teaching so lessons can be conducted in this language as well.
To those whom it may concern I also have a recent basic DBS check.
Excellent! Lorenzo has been teaching my 9 year old son piano for past 3 months.
My son absolutely adores him and looks forward meeting him every week. He's patient, kind and understanding. I'd very much like to recommend Lorenzo for anyone, who would like to learn to play.
Andrea is a warm and welcoming person, it was a pleasure to give lessons at their home. Brandon (student) is a bright and energetic child who works well when he puts his mind to it. My advice, as said in person, is simply more determination to get the task at hand done. An optimistic attitude to practice can go a long way!
Perfect! Lorenzo is a skilled tutor that makes sure the student gets a solid foundation while at the same time enjoys learning. As a beginner, I find this combination of theory, technique, pieces and improvisation to give me the confidence to be very creative! Highly recommended.
A delight to teach, attentive and hard-working.
