My name is Zayd Tippu, and I am a medical student at King's College London. I have just finished my second year, and am now about to embark on a one year BSc program in Biomedical Sciences, before returning to my medical studies in September 2011. I really do love to teach, and I have a strong belief that teaching is a two way process, as much for the tutor as it is for the tutee, nothing would satisfy me more than to see my tutee grapple with and then fully understand any problems they may be having. Tutoring for me is an active not passive process, it does not work by merely imparting facts and figures, it requires versatility, patience, motivational skills as well as knowledge on the behalf of the tutor, these are skills which I believe I posses, and would therefore hope to aid any tutee of mine to not only achieve but surpass any goals that they may set for themselves.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I primarily teach Biology and Chemistry, at GCSE level and below. Should a tutee start with me at GCSE level or younger, and would wish me to continue tutoring into A-levels, I would be more than happy to do so: the only reason I refrain from taking on new tutees at A-level, is I believe I should first be accustomed with the learning style of the tutee, so that they can achieve the most from our sessions, before tackling the academic rigours of higher levels. I also teach Religious Studies till GCSE level, and would also be more than happy to coach students should they wish to apply for a place in medical school, and this would include tutoring for the associated entrance exams.

There is no fees for travel so long as it is within Zone 1 and Zone 2, homes outside this area will be negotiated on an individual basis. - Where do you teach?
I teach primarily at the tutee's homes, or we can arrange a mutually convenient destination. Again I teach primarily within Zone 1 and Zone 2 of London, but am willing to go outside of this area. I tutor in the Canterbury area on weekends only, and also in main school holidays. Here should it be within a 15 mile radius of Canterbury there will be no travel charge, beyond this a fee will be negotiated dependent on distance.

I tutor primarily in evenings, from 17:00 onwards and also on weekends, those in the Canterbury area will be weekends only and also school holidays. There may be times during the day which I am free as well, but this can vary throughout the year, so please contact me directly to enquire about daytime availabilities.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach up to GCSE level, in Biology, Chemistry and Religious Studies, though am willing to go to A-level, for those students who have begun with me at GCSE level or below. For those who are planning to apply for a place at medical school, I give University Entrance sessions, regardless of age or level.
- Do you have a personal message for students?
Often I find that tutees find it difficult to work with traditional teachers, as they find it hard to relate to them. It is here that I believe that I will excel, by combining my own personal recent educational experiences, with my communication skills and knowledge, I hope that I can provide a service that is unmatched.
- What kind of experience do you have?
I have three years experience of teaching in primary schools, aiding children with literacy and numeracy, it is here that I learnt the skills of teaching, often with subjects that are completely alien to the student. The teaching was in a small group basis and also a large proportion of the time was spent in a one- on one basis, while teaching them was of the upmost importance, a large part was also just facilitating them, guiding them to be able to fully achieve their own potential.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes, I have a full CRB disclosure certificate.
