I am a firm believer that enjoyment of study inevitably generates positive outcomes and success. I believe that enthusiasm is infectious, as are success and the pursuit of excellence. Hence I constantly strive to enthuse my students using carefully planned lessons and schemes and through lively engagement. My lessons are tailored to suit the needs of each individual student, where after an initial assessment and consultation, I will assess your needs and make a study plan for you.
Until summer 2017, I was Head of French in a sixth-form college and an examiner at GCSE and A level. I have an excellent record of achieving exam success for my students.
Patient, friendly and supportive, yet with high expectations, I strongly believe that enjoyment of study inevitably leads to success. I have worked as a private tutor to prepare students for GCSE and A-level exams as well as entrance exams for local state grammar schools, independent schools and most recently I have been tutoring a student who has just been awarded a bursary to study at Eton. As a senior tutor at a sixth form college and one of the country’s top state grammar schools, I have years of experience of supporting students through all stages of the UCAS process, preparing for university entrance. My students have gone on to study at our most prestigious universities.

CAREER EXPERIENCE & ACHIEVEMENTS
Connell Sixth Form College Sep 2013 – Jul 2017
Manchester M11 3BS
Head of French
In my last role as Head of French, not only did I have responsibility for all teaching of French, setting up the department from scratch in a new-start college, but I was also responsible for all “Elite athletes”. Due to the unique location of the college in Sports City and immediately adjacent to MCFC Academy, we welcomed students who are first and foremost professional athletes from football, GB Cycling and GB Taekwondo and who follow a bespoke programme of study on a part-time basis, tailored for each athlete to fit around their demanding training schedule.
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls Sep 2006 - Aug 2013
Bowdon WA14 2NL
Teacher of French and Spanish
During my seven years at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls I was privileged to work in a stimulating environment, where excellence is the norm. I especially valued working in a high performing, inspirational and co-operative department. Thanks to this, the on-going training opportunities in school and the rigorous system of appraisal, I feel that my enthusiasm for my subject gained more focus and that I became a better teacher. During my time at Altrincham, I always strived to achieve the highest standards of learning and behaviour, by motivating my students and supporting them in class and individually where required. I regularly spent lunchtimes with struggling students to give them extra support and strategies to enable them to overcome their difficulties and reach their potential. . I was a member of the Language College Committee and the International Forum.
Furthermore, I participated in the French exchange, two ski trips and facilitated work experience abroad for Y12. One of the most unexpected, yet rewarding roles I undertook, was establishing the link with our partner school in Nagoya, Japan. I co-ordinated with the school in Japan and for five years (2008-2013), I was responsible for all the visiting students during their time at AGGS. In addition, I organised two school trips to Japan, in 2009 and 2012.
Eccles Sixth Form College Sep 2004 - Jul 2006

This was a new initiative where fast-tracked students took GCSE at the end of Year 9 and which gave me the challenge of teaching AS to Years 10 and 11.
