I give lessons at GCSE and A Level for Art and Design qualifications. You will be able to express your creativity in as many different materials, techniques and processes as you can imagine, or be more selective in range of media.
As a teacher of Art and Photography for the past 12 years in secondary and sixth form education, I have enjoyed working with many individuals who are passionate about creativity and love to follow their progress in higher education and beyond in associated careers in the creative industries.

In playing a lead role in the use of art for fostering cohesion in the local community, I won the bid for the commission for a piece of public art for Bognor Regis, a contributing factor in Sainsbury’s gaining a site due for regeneration. This ‘live brief’ meant much submitting of designs to Sainsbury’s HQ, and negotiation with workers at the store and council representatives. I set myself the target of collaborating with my own students that I taught, aged 11 to 18 years until a final design was reached. After liaising with fabricators, the outcome was an exterior public artwork 3-panel mural triptych, each measuring 6 by 2.4 meters and costing £10.000. This project management, while maintaining full time employment at school, demonstrates my practical knowledge and proactive attitude, invaluable in enabling for the realization of exhibitions and the more ambitious sculptural, installation and digital based works that students want to make. I’m passionate about my subject and colleagues value my commitment to creativity.
I love to keep fit with a walk in the countryside or city and discover new places. I Frequently visit exhibitions in an ongoing development of knowledge of contemporary art. Drawing from direct observation of museum artifacts, architecture, landscape and portraiture inform paintings, textile and mixed media works developed at home. I find the discipline of drawing incredibly relaxing and recording what lies in front of me has led to spending relatively long amounts of time with subjects increasing my empathy and understanding of archaic and period genres. When I take photographs I often manipulate them in Photoshop and images are often transformed into objects in my work. Having trained as a tapestry weaver, the way the image is simultaneously created with the weave of the fabric has great appeal to me. I weave torn strips of old clothing, as re-purposing is an instinctive part of my practice. I’m at ease with working in three dimensions and mainly exhibit sculpture annually in the Open Houses during the Brighton festival. I use social media and blog as an artist to promote my work:
