About Yu
Yu is an accomplished musician, classical pianist, composer, and music educator from Inner Mongolia, China. With a lifelong passion for music, Yu has captivated audiences through a wide range of projects, blending classical traditions with modern influences. His musical journey began at the age of four with piano, followed by guitar in middle school. During high school, he founded his school’s light music ensemble, serving as head instructor and principal pianist. After entering university, Yu expanded his musical exploration by studying the Morin Khuur (horsehead fiddle) and handpan. Alongside performance, he developed skills in music production, including MIDI composition, recording, and soundtrack creation. In college, he formed the hip-hop group T-force (later renamed P.T.S.), taking on roles as producer, recording engineer, and host. In 2008, he recorded and released an underground hip-hop mixtape in collaboration with Inner Mongolia’s most popular hip-hop band. A dedicated educator, Yu has over 15 years of experience teaching piano to students of all ages in piano studios and private music schools. He has also served as an assistant teacher for piano art examinations at Inner Mongolia Normal University. His competitive achievements include second place at the Hohhot Piano Performance Competition (Junior Group, 1993), first place at the Wuhan Piano Performance Competition (Youth Group, 2003), and being part of the winning ensemble for the China Music Golden Bell Award in 2011. With a career that spans both performance and education, Yu is committed to sharing the transformative power of music, inspiring students and audiences alike to experience the joy, creativity, and emotional depth that music can bring.

Courses I Offer 1. Music Literacy Lessons (£50/hour) Perfect for teenagers and adults who want to explore music with confidence. These lessons help you develop musical skills, express yourself through performance, and appreciate the beauty of music. Students will also be introduced to a variety of musical styles, from classical to jazz and pop, making every lesson a fun and inspiring experience. 2. ABRSM Piano and Music Theory Lessons (£60/hour) Designed for children and teenagers preparing for ABRSM graded exams. Each student receives a personalized study plan tailored to their goals and parents’ expectations. Lessons include piano performance, music theory, and sight-reading, ensuring students are fully prepared for their exams while enjoying the learning process. 3. Pianist Lessons (£120/hour) For students aiming to take university-level music examinations, compete in piano competitions, or pursue a professional career as a pianist. This program offers intensive, structured training in piano performance, music theory, and musicianship, helping students reach the highest level of skill and artistry.
