About Caglayan
Caglayan Barbaros is an experienced professional flautist and dedicated educator. Alongside her extensive performance career, she has taught flute at Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatoire and served as a woodwind tutor for the Doğuş Children’s Symphony Orchestra, demonstrating a strong commitment to music education and mentoring young musicians. She graduated from Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatoire and began her professional career as Principal Flute with the Hacettepe Symphony Orchestra. She later joined the prestigious Presidential Symphony Orchestra of Turkey, where she held the position for over 15 years, performing under renowned conductors. During this time, she also appeared as a guest artist with major orchestras throughout Turkey, including the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, and Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra. Caglayan has performed at prestigious international festivals such as Asia Orchestra Week in Tokyo, Young Euro Classic in Berlin, and the Ankara International Music Festival. She has also played in renowned concert halls including Tokyo Opera City, the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest, the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Madrid’s National Music Auditorium, Moscow’s Column Hall, and Alte Oper Frankfurt. As a soloist, she has performed Mozart and Reinecke’s flute concertos with the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, she has collaborated with chamber music ensembles such as Echo Ensemble and Ankara Ensemble. Now based in Scotland, Caglayan will begin the Artist Diploma programme at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in September. Since 2023, she has been performing with the Amicus Orchestra and collaborating with ensembles such as Opera Bohemia, while continuing her teaching career.

I am a conservatoire graduate with over 20 years of experience as a professional orchestral flautist and tutor. I offer flute and piccolo lessons tailored to each student’s individual level, needs, and musical goals. My teaching style is supportive, structured, and flexible, combining classical techniques with creative exercises to build strong foundations in tone, technique, and musicality. Lessons are available in 30, 45, or 60-minute sessions and are suitable for all levels—from complete beginners to advanced players. All age groups are welcome. Whether you’re preparing for exams, auditions, or simply playing for enjoyment, I will guide you step by step.
