About Crispin
I am an Oxford graduate in Modern Languages (French and German). I am married with four children and have a busy working week as a Chief Executive of a major arts organisation in London.
I have extensive teaching experience and served at Rugby School in Warwickshire for a number of years, where I was Head of Modern Languages. I have comprehensive, detailed knowledge of the demands faced by candidates at public examination, including Common Entrance and 13+ & 16+ Scholarship, and an established track record in helping my pupils achieve a successful outcome. Many of my pupils have gained top places at Oxford and Cambridge and have earned the highest marks awarded by their examination board at GCSE and A level. I feel equally at home helping those who have lost their way with languages and who need a fresh approach to build up enthusiasm and self-confidence. I have a detailed knowledge of French and German literature with a particular personal interest in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

The great French mathematician and thinker, Blaise Pascal, said, "Le coeur a ses raisons que la raison ne connaît point." This universal truth has always informed me as a teacher. You cannot get a pupil, regardless of ability or circumstance, to achieve their full potential if their heart is not in it. Academic progress in languages, as in any other field, has to be driven by a degree of enthusiastic inspiration. The study of languages should be exciting. Pupils can expect lessons to be challenging and enjoyable. Parents can expect a meticulous and accountable approach that will begin with a review of all work done by their child and that will recommend and follow a detailed plan of action. All teaching is supported by regular written reporting.
