About Helen
Hello students! I have just graduated high school with 8 GCSEs and with 4 A grades and I am now at Xaverian College to study law, politics and history even though I have a passion for English. I love reading novels and teaching kids how to expand their minds and literacy! Outside of tutoring I love to go on walks and binge TV shows like The Office and Destination X. I can't wait to help you learn at whatever stage you are in your education journey.

When I teach a tutoring lesson, I always start by checking in with the student and asking what they’ve been struggling with, then I set a clear goal for the session so they know exactly what we’re working towards. I explain the topic in simple terms, give examples, and ask questions so they stay engaged, before moving on to guided practice where we work through a question together. After that, I let them try a similar task independently while I support if needed, and then we go through their answer with feedback—starting with what they did well and then focusing on one or two things to improve. I wrap up by recapping what we covered, setting a small task for next time, and ending on a positive note so they leave feeling more confident and motivated. The lessons would be typically an hour but can go to three hours with a break. My tutoring is aimed at those 4 towards students taking their GCSE exams.
