About Chris
As Head of Music all those years I tried to do the correct thing and pass on pupils to my peripatetic tutors, but I got so many parents demanding I tutor their child. With singers I always accompany children in exams to give them confidence, rather than passing them over to a professional accompanist who they've never sang with before. I lived for 5 years in Kenya, so I also try and include world music in their song repertoire. Over the years it has brought me a lot of joy to see children succeed in exams and find fulfilment in vocal competitions and concerts.

I have 15 years experience of teaching primary age children singing, guitar (chordal), piano, music theory and maths. Having taught children from age 6-13 as Head of Music every school day for 15 years, I understand what motivates children and what doesn't. I tend to teach age 6-9 children for 30 minute lessons, but 10-13 might need 45-60 minute lessons.
We all need goals so I tend to use the Associated Board grades as milestones, but some children after a couple of grades might prefer following the rock school or LCM curriculum.
I promise together with me, you can achieve your Grade 1 ABRSM within 12 weeks (hourly lessons).
