About Maria
Confidence building is key! I aim to make all topics accessible- I focus on similarities between English and Spanish to help understand how to build your own sentences and remember easily. I learnt Spanish in Spain so I try to relate the topics to real life scenarios, focusing on useful vocabulary so the student can make logic connections and apply their knowledge to other situations. I don't give "homework" but rather practice suggestions if the student wants to challenge themselves as I don't believe my teaching should be an extra workload- I hope it can reduce the workload from school or boost your enthusiasm towards the language if you want to learn casually.

I'm a third year student at Cardiff University. I'm 20 years old- I still remember and school tests and being told to memorise useless vocabulary lists- so in my teaching, I try to emphasise every-day scenarios so the student can communicate the concepts and ideas confidently rather than rote-learning things you can't apply. I've been helping students of all ages since I was 16- I am very passionate about languages and believe everyone can learn if the teaching is delivered and focused correctly.
