About Marija
Born in Skopje, Macedonia, I developed an appreciation for music early on. I completed a Bachelor of Music degree, double-majoring in composition, under the guidance of Even de Castro Robinson and John Elmsly and conducting, under the guidance of Karen Grylls and Uwe Grodd at the University of Auckland. I also completed a Teaching Diploma and a Masters in Music Education, with supervisor Trevor Thwaites from the University of Auckland. I have been a secondary music teacher for the last 18 years, in various Auckland high schools and am currently teaching at Pinehurst School (since 2014), where I hold the Head of Visual and Performing Arts role.
I have collaborated with the University of Auckland teacher training programme and have a real passion for conducting, music education, developing educational music resources and presenting.

My teaching approach is based on establishing strong relationships with students (and parents) so I can identify the students' passion, strengths and interest and ensure the process and pathway of teaching aligns with those for the best possible outcome.
Typical lessons for year 7 - 13, can vary from 30 min to 1 hour.
I hold a Bachelor of Music (double major in composition and conducting) as well as a Masters Degree in Education. For the past three years I have been contracted by the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra to develop educational documentaries, written resources and live - in concert presentations.
