About Imogen
Hi! I'm Imogen and I have been playing the harp for over 17 years and teaching for 7 years. I am based in South East London and teach my students at their homes or via Zoom. I absolutely love teaching and I am actively looking for more harp students. What are your qualifications? - Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, MMus (Distinction) - Oxford University, BA Music -Enhanced DBS check What teaching experience do you have? I have taught private harp lessons for seven years. My students have ranged in age from 5 to adult learners. I have taught a variety of standards ranging from complete beginner to grade 7. Additionally, I worked as a Pastoral Assistant at the National Schools Symphony Orchestra where I helped with orchestral harp teaching. What is current availability? I currently have space for approximately 2 more harp students in my teaching schedule. If you are available during the day on weekdays, I can very likely accommodate you. I also have availability on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday evenings. Please do enquire even if you are unavailable at these times, as I do have some flexibility to adjust my schedule. What music are you interested in? I love a wide variety of genres, but particularly love harp music from the 19th century through to the present day. I also listen to a lot of non-classical music (e.g. Taylor Swift and Marina). What are your performance highlights? I have performed with orchestras at numerous prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre, Barbican Hall, and Birmingham Concert Hall. My most memorable performance was playing Debussy's Danse Sacree et Profane as my concerto debut with the Oxford University String Ensemble. Who did you learn harp with? Most recently I studied with internationally-renowned harpist Gabriella Dall'Olio at Trinity Laban. However, I began harp lessons with Angela Moore and later learnt with Charlotte Seale at the Junior Guildhall of Music and Dance.

My harp teaching combines my rigorous academic and performance backgrounds with my open-minded attitude towards music. The main goals of my teaching practice: - Create a positive environment for musical development - Provide a strong technical foundation for harp playing - Tailor lessons to individual students - Help students work towards their own dreams and ambitions - Embrace music from all genres - Inspire musical connection and curiosity I teach all my students at their homes or via Zoom. For online lessons, I use an iPad Pro which allows my students a clear view of my harp and hands. I use the software ForScore to annotate and colour-code music to assist my students' learning. I also have an extensive library of harp music that my students have access to and can borrow when necessary.

Perfect! I've had many lessons with Imogen now and only have glowing things to say. Imogen is warm, thoughtful, talented, and has been adaptive in meeting my specific interests in learning harp. Each lesson feels rich and personalised.
Imogen is generous with her time and it's clear that she considers and plans our lessons in the spaces between them. I'm really grateful for the technique and theory I've learnt with her help - thank you!View more reviews

I had a great lesson with Imogen! She was patient and good at finding new ways to explain things to me so I could understand them. As well as guiding me with my playing, she provided lots of interesting background knowledge about the harp. I would highly recommend her!
