About Sam
I am an experienced science teacher currently teaching in a UK secondary school and a sixth form. I regularly teach science from year 7 to year 13 A-level. I have experience of teaching different exam boards including AQA, OCR, OCR Gateway, Edexcel A (SNAB), CIE, Pearson and WJEC Eduqas. I have a PhD from Manchester University and experience of working with students with a variety of needs. My career has provided me with a rich variety of teaching opportunities. I have been involved in teaching and training of undergraduate students in different science subjects including biology, chemistry and physics at both Sheffield and Manchester Universities. I have lots of experience of teaching Key Stage 3, GCSE and A-level pupils in both mainstream and private schools in the UK. My year 13 students often secure their first UCAS choice at university with the majority of them accepted in Medicine, dentistry or pharmacy in top class UK universities.

I am an experienced science teacher. I will have a PowerPoint for every single lesson. I can guarantee you understand the topic that you need help with when you leave my classroom. All of the topics in science subjects are related and just get complicated as the students progress to higher level. So it is essential for students to have a solid prior knowledge for the new topics they are learning. So, sometimes to learn a new topic we need to take a step back and fill the gaps in your preliminary knowledge required to understand the new topic. It is also essential to apply pupils' knowledge to exam questions all the time to make sure that they know how to use key terminologies and answer those important questions in the exam. The mark schemes are very specific for GCSE and A-level exams and the students often don't know how to answer the question properly despite having the knowledge. So it is vital that they practise those questions after they have gained the knowledge with an experienced teacher to secure a high grade in exams. I practise this with my KS3 students as well so they get into the habit of how to use key terms to answer questions.

Since beginning her GCSE Chemistry lessons with Sadaf, my daughter has grown in confidence. Sadaf is reliable, flexible, and has excellent subject knowledge. I would recommend her teaching without hesitation.
I am studyign A-Level Biology and chemistry with Sam. Sam has been incredibly helpful with teaching me the key concepts of each topic. The sessions are really flexible and allow me to decide what I want to focus on and what I find difficult. She allows me to relay the information and ensures I have a key understanding of the important concepts. Her use of diagrams and powerpoints is really helpful in terms of visualising the work and it means I am not sat listening to someone speak for an hour and I can actually engage with the work.
She's down to earth and lets me take my time when learning, in ways such as allowing me time to make little notes as we go along but also pausing so I can relay the information to her in my own words to ensure I am understanding. As A-levels approach, I feel very comfortable with the way my revision is going and I know I can bring anything I struggle with.
I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for an understanding tutor, who makes the hardest topics in biology much more enjoyable and easy to grasp!!View more recommendations
