Hi why was the slave trade hard to abolish

why was the slave trade so hard to abolish the only thing i can think of is that many people would not be able to read or write so it would be hard to prove that it is cruel.

Source analysis about the French revolution

I am trying to analyse a source about how this source is valuable for an inquiry into the reason for the collapse of the absolute monarchy in 1789. But I am struggling because I do not really understand the purpose of the source. Can I get some help about how to approach this question?

Antoine Barnave- Leading member of the National Assembly and wrote this reflection on the causes of the French revolution whilst he was waiting execution during the Terror of 1793.

The democratic ideal, virtually stifled under all European governments while the feudal system remained powerful, has gathered strength and continues to grow...The two privileged orders who still retained control of the government were ruined through their taste for luxury and had degraded themselves by their way of life. The Third Estate, in contrast, had produced enlightened thinkers and acquired enormous wealth. The people were restrained only by their habit of servitude and the limited hope they had of breaking their chains. The government had succeeded in containing this hope; but it had nevertheless flourished in the heart of the nation.

SQA Advanced higher History essay

I have an essay given to me to do as homework and the question is :

"why did the Papacy play such a dominant role in the High Renaissance?'

But I'm struggling to find points to talk about. Obviously there is more than one factor and I can't seem to figure them out. The only one i could think of is the papal patronage of art.

Much help is needed and appreciated.

Study Tips for History

Hi

My 12 year old son is due to take a test on Monday in History. We always struggle to identify the main points to revise as there seem to be many. The eras he will be tested on is the Cycladic, Minoan and Mycenean civilisations. Is there a certain set of questions we can set about asking when reading history that will help us to extract main points on a general level and retain them for revision? Infact, any revision/study tips will be most welcomed.

Thank you for reading.

What is your favourite period in History?

My favourite period has to be the Scottish Wars of Independence; because it is so controversial and most of it broadly blown out of proportion... Still very interesting though..
