Starting from the decimal point split the digits into groups of 2 digits _ )1 20 ( Now do this like a long division problem 1 goes into 1, so the first digit is 1 1 ) 1 20 ( 1 ....1 ------- ....0 double the divisor digit to get 2 2_ ) 20 (_ new divisor is 2_ where _ is the digit that goes into 20, here 21 * 1 is too big so 0 is the digit 20 ) 20 ( 0 ......0 ----------- ......20 double the divisor digit again 20_ and bring down 2 zeros 20_ ) 20.00 (_ 2 goes into 20 10 times, so the digit is 9 209 ) 20.00 (9 .....1881 --------------- ......119 etc... 218_)11900(_ 2 goes into 11 about 5 times, try 5 2185) 11900 ( 5 ......10925 ---------------- .......975 2190_) 97500 ( 2 goes into 9 about 4 times, try 4 21904 ) 97500 ( 4 ........87616 ------------------- ..........9884 The process goes on, double the last digit , bring down two zeros and divide again 10.954....

If this is a calculator problem them simply plug  √120 in the calculator. If done correctly, you should recieve an answer of 10.95445... However, if done manually: √120=√(4*30)=√4*√30=2√30
