I need an experiment to test this-the output of an solar cell depends on the are of a solabr cell exposed to light. Help anyone? Also need a website with it on. 🙂

Okay, so you know the variable you are altering in your experiment is area. How are you going to meassure the output?

As theo said, your x variable is area, and your y variable is going to be voltage or power (as a solar cell converts solar energy to electrical energy using the photoelectric effect). This means you're going to have to change the area of the solar cell exposed to sunlight several times - the best way to do this is probably to find the total area of the solar cell and divide it into 6 segments. Then, cover 5 segments with black paper so they cannot generate electricity, and measure the output. Then uncover another segment, so 2 are exposed to sunlight, and measure the output again.

Doing the experiment like this should provide you with 6 values for the voltage or power that the cell outputs. Good scientific practice says you should then repeat the experiment (so cover 5 segments again and take another reading for that data point, and do the whole process again) and you should then repeat it at least once more - for a total of 3 repeats. The reason you take 3 results for each interation of x is so you can average them - this improves your scientific accuracy as it helps to eliminate errors. If you require any help, please comment again and I'll be sure to clarify anything you need help with (:
