How could biofuels and hydrogen fuels help us to help our environment?

Answers
They could help because they would be an alternative to fossil fuels which produce greenhouse gasses which are the main contributor to global warming.

It is argued that biofuels represent a more sustainable energy source (because they can be grown whereas fossil fuels will eventually run out) however it is also argued that producing biofuels leads to deforestation (as more land is needed to grow the plants) which may completely counteract their benefits in terms of emissions. In addition, in a world where there is often not enough food to serve the population, using land and resources to grow fuels is seen as contributing to the problem of being able to grow enough food for everyone.

Also, it is argued that in the case of hydrogen fuels, hydrogen is not found 'on it's own' on earth i.e. it is found as a component of compounds such as water. This means that a lot of energy has to be spend extracting it and this may be counter-productive. In addition, water is also becoming a scarce resource on earth and so using more in order to produce fuels may be unwise.
