Some people say that it was the Ancient Egyptians, followed by the Greeks and Arabs. Other people associated with electricity are William Gilbert, Robert Boyle, Otto von Guericke, Stephen Gray and C.F. Du Fay. Possibly the most famous is Benjamin Franklin in the 18th century.
