What is sociology?

What is sociology?

Emma

What does this mean? would you agree or disagree?

“theory from 'Frankfurt school', mass culture was condemned for a number of reasons. First, it is parasitic culture, feeding on high culture while offering nothing in return. Second, it is a culture imposed from above on the 'masses'. Whereas folk culture was a culture of people, mass culture is a culture for people.”

Emma

What does this mean? why would you agree or disagree?

‘Opposition to mass culture and complains about falling standards often amounts to no more than a lament about a changing world’ - Frankfurt School

How can i improve my grade from a B to an A in sociology?

To improve your grade from a B to an A your exam answer must be in depth and concise. A B grade student will include key terminology that will earn marks for knowledge; however, an A grade student would take this a step further and define the key terminology within their answer to portray knowledge and understanding, which will subsequently earn them more marks. Furthermore, a B grade student will answer the question adequately, yet they may not illustrate outstanding understanding of a concept to be in the top bands. To improve upon this one may use a paragraph structure known as: PEEL. P: point. E: example. E: explanation. L: link. This simple structure will enable you to earn marks for your application, and for your knowledge. This technique will also allow one to answer the question properly, as it is easy for students to lose track of what is actually being asked from them. The explanation part should dominate the paragraph as it is significant for the student to include relevant theoretical perspectives. This differentiates a B grade student from an A grade student.
