About Anna
I have acted as a professional academic tutor for over 5 years, and previous to this was employed as an English teacher for nearly 7 years.
I possess a first-class BA in Sociology and Cultural studies from Goldsmiths College, University of London, and a distinction level MA in Sociology from the University of Essex. I was awarded the University of Essex's 2016 'David Lockwood Prize' for best Sociology dissertation across my graduating cohort.
I have recently gained my PhD in Sociology at the University of Glasgow. My areas of expertise include feminist theory, gender studies, post-Fordism, neoliberal state politics, platform economies, digital labour, and qualitative research methodologies.
Alongside this, I also possess an 'A' grade postgraduate teaching qualification, certified by the University of Cambridge.
The breadth and quality of my educational achievements are a strong indicator of my sociological and academic expertise.
Throughout the course of my 4 year Ph.D., I have obtained professional training in academic tutoring. I have led regular seminar sessions and lectures with undergraduate sociology students, and I have detailed knowledge and understanding of the undergraduate sociology curriculum.
My role as a graduate teacher has also included grading student assignments, including essays and end-of-course dissertations. These experiences have further honed my academic skill set, and I am well equipped to offer guidance and help with all areas of your academic learning. I also have longstanding experience in delivering online seminars and lectures.
I have also gained experience supporting A-level Sociology students through the Sociology AQA curriculum. This has included devising and delivering online lessons, providing feedback for assessments and exam preparation. In this role, my private student obtained consistently high grades for her written work. I am therefore well-equipped to provide private tutoring to Sociology A-level students.
Finally, in addition to my academic credentials and teaching experience, I also have worked for several years as a freelance proof-reader, copy-editor, and content writer. This professional experience demands an excellent understanding of English grammar and language, which further illustrates my skill set as an academic tutor.

All of my tutoring sessions are led and shaped by the needs of my individual students. Due to my extensive academic experience, I am able to provide assistance in a variety of areas.
I offer sessions dedicated to academic skills, with a focus on improving your essay writing skills, research skills, critical reading skills, and presentation skills.
I can also provide sessions that focus on your acquisition and retention of knowledge in specific areas of your academic curriculum. My sessions are entirely determined by your specific needs.
I know that achieving academic excellence requires confidence and self-belief, which is why my methodological approach is centered on setting achievable goals and providing consistent encouragement and support, both inside and outside lesson time.
I don't use jargon and I aim to make my lessons as straightforward and understandable as possible. I believe strongly in making sociology relatable and approachable and I achieve this through the use of up-to-date and contemporary examples as well as a variety of teaching materials and activities.
In my classes, I will help you develop the academic skills necessary to achieve an excellent grade in sociology, by guiding the development of your sociological imagination. This will provide you with the skills necessary to tackle a variety of academic challenges throughout your university career and will ultimately develop your capacity to view and understand the world sociologically.

- Anna's response :
Perfect! Anna, is an incredible tutor who has helped me with essay structure. I was struggling and she helped me understand the question. Despite me deciding last minute to reach out for help she still took time out of her day to help me. Her encouragement has helped me boost my confidence in my writing.
- Anna's response :
Perfect! My daughter has been working with Anna as her distance-learning tutor for A-level sociology for over a month now and has had an excellent experience. Anna is organised, responsive, reliable and, above all, makes the sessions interesting and effective. Highly recommended!
