About James
I’m a Senior Electronics Engineer at Ultra Maritime, specialising in the research, development, and production support of advanced acoustic systems. As a neurodivergent professional, I approach learning and problem-solving from unique perspectives. I understand the challenges that can come with traditional learning methods, and I'm passionate about helping others build confidence, unlock their strengths, and succeed in ways that work best for them. Previously, at In-Space Missions (BAE Systems), I contributed to major satellite programmes such as Azalea, Prometheus, Pioneer, and Titania, collaborating with partners like ESA, DSTL, and Airbus. I led the development of electronic systems across payload interfaces, avionics, and power systems. With nearly a decade of experience in both academia and industry, applying core mathematics, physics and electronic principles on a daily basis. I’ve also had the privilege of mentoring Graduate and Junior Engineers, teaching complex principles in ways that match each learner’s unique style and understanding.

My teaching style is very much attuned to the student's preference with regards to the VARK (Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Kinaesthetic learning) model to make learning a joy! Typically, we will break things down to their foundational level, find the weak point, correct, and then reassemble, pushing past retention and memorisation (which is taxing) towards a true level of comprehension (to which even the most complex theorems give way to reason).
If you're having issues with Fourier's Theorems, Lagrange Transforms, the z-domain isn't domaining, your C programming code isn't compiling or your PID isn't tuning please reach out!
