About Charles

Hi, I am Charles. Currently, I am in the first year of a Sculpture degree at Glasgow School of Art. Prior to this, I completed a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at Leeds Arts University (UAL), achieving distinction grade and gained A*’s in A level Art, Design & Technology and an EPQ. In-between my studies I spent time working alongside a master blacksmith and a fabricator, building a studio, to gain practical skills working in metal. I have been selected to exhibit in several public exhibitions, one being the Royal Academy in the 2022 Young Artists Summer Show. I have a real interest in wildlife photography and have done a variety of commercial photoshoots.

Myself

Hi, I am Charles. Currently, I am in the second year of a Sculpture degree at Glasgow School of Art. I have been selected to exhibit in several public exhibitions, one being the London Art Fair 2024 and Royal Academy in the 2022 Young Artists Summer Show. Achieving A* grades for Art at both GCSE and A-Level, I understand what is required to develop, document, and present a body of work that allows you to access the higher grades and achieve your potential in line with the syllabus and am really keen to share my understanding. I have founded a design studio which supplies for a global Interior design Company.

My Approach

In the first lessons, it is important to get to know each other, to understand your interests and aspirations, what you already know and how that has been expressed. I expect to have a supportive dialogue about how to make progress. The sessions will be tailored to you, and we will design the content together identifying areas to work on. For project-based work I will guide and support you through the process ensuring you have fully expressed your ideas. This will be achieved by generating ideas, exploring relevant artists, making, experimentation and evaluation supported by extensive documentation of the process.

Experience

I am confident and enthusiastic in giving students of all ages and abilities online art lessons, whether it is supporting them with their own or class work, supporting them through GCSE/A level, helping them with portfolios for art school/University applications or demonstrating and teaching practical art skills and techniques. I am an encouraging and patient tutor and believe that a supportive approach brings out the best in any student. My feedback from teaching has been that it’s fun but productive and exposes the student to new alternative ways of working. I have undertaken private tutoring for GCSE level art but now feel able to support higher level art students on this online platform.

Historically, I understand what it feels like to be less than confident and will help students find their own voice within art. I believe all students should have access to high quality art education, as I have experienced, and want to share my knowledge and understanding.
