About David
I left school at the age of 15 years to take on an apprenticeship, however, 7 years later I realised that I needed to achieve a qualification in higher education. So I put myself back into adult education to complete my high school science subjects with enough points to be accepted into university. When I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering I secured a position in a small consultancy. After about 1 year, the principal consultant sold the consultancy to me and I ran it as sole proprietor for 14 years before coming to the UK when became involved in numerous renewable projects as structural designer, technical adviser, owner's engineer and construction supervisor. My approach is to determine the level of knowledge of each tutee, find out what the goals are, plan the course on this information then start with first principles and carefully walk the tutees through the subject matter. Each session should last about 50 minutes, then allowing 10 minutes for questions, taking the contact time to 1 hour. The lessons are generally aimed at mature aged tutees (over 20 years).
