About Ash
Hi! I’ve played the saxophone for over 10 years and have experience in solo performances, big bands and orchestras. I have busked, performed in full concert halls.
I’ve learnt from musicians such as Rob Buckland, Jess Gillam, resolution 88, the delta saxophone quartet and many more. This experience alongside my own playing means I can pass on the knowledge of professionals and those teaching at the UK’s top level conservertoires.
I have lots of helpful tips to share and above all else hope to help you feel great about playing - ultimately having fun is what it’s all about!

Hello, my name is Ash and I am a freelance musician and music teacher based in York City center. Offering the convenience of lessons brought to you in your own home. I teach across a wide range of styles and at all levels. My varied experience across the music industry enables me to create a personal experience based on your goals and interests. Throughout my experience, I have taught pupils from a range of backgrounds including pupils with special needs providing a personalized approach to help everyone to access music. Alongside my grade 8 in Alto saxophone, flute, clarinet, and singing I hold a diploma in music theory as well as experience with music technology and recording techniques to help support your development as a musician whatever your goals. during my career, I've played in venues such as Saffron hall, Sturmer hall, Norwich cathedral, york minster, and the hope and anchor.
Across the past 6 years, I have gained experience teaching, flute, saxophone, clarinet, and music theory to students aged between 5-70 and have helped towards grades and exams between 1-8. Specifically, in the last year months, I have gained a lot of experience teaching online. I absolutely love teaching any student who is willing to learn any musical instrument, study music theory, or just learn any aspect of music in general that they want to learn. It is very rewarding to see a student understand or improve in music, regardless of the understanding/improvement, which is what makes teaching so fun for me. It is also a privilege to be able to pass on my musical knowledge to a student the same way my excellent music tutors passed on to me.
I welcome students of all abilities from complete beginners to those comparing to embark on a career in music. Every student will begin with a free consultation blessing where we will discuss what musical styles you are interested in and create a targeted approach to help you achieve your goals of what inspired you to play in the first place.
We can also put in place a plan to help you enter the exam system to help you in your musical career if thats something you're interested in.I can also recommend a range of ensembles to help you develop as a musician.
