About Malia
With over 7 years of teaching experience and a BM in Music Education (Orchestral Strings – Violin), I guide students in both solo and ensemble performance. I have led youth orchestras, string ensembles, and group violin classes, emphasizing chamber music and collaboration. My expertise includes section leading, ensemble dynamics, tuning as a group, and team musicianship. I work with schools, community centers, and chamber groups to create meaningful musical experiences. Coaching chamber groups allows me to focus on communication, balance, and expressive interpretation. I aim to help students understand their role within the ensemble and contribute confidently. Every rehearsal is an opportunity to develop listening, teamwork, and musical sensitivity. I encourage precision while nurturing creativity and musical expression. Ensemble playing teaches adaptability and fosters a sense of belonging. Students gain skills that extend beyond music—collaboration, patience, and shared achievement. I love seeing ensembles grow together and achieve collective success. Music is a shared journey, and the joy comes from making it together.

The teaching method focuses on mastering the violin bow. I guide students through techniques to achieve a rich, warm tone. We practice bowing strokes like detaché, spiccato, and legato in detail. Dynamic control is emphasized to make playing expressive. Exercises are provided to strengthen the bow arm for control and flexibility. Lessons include posture, left-hand coordination, and rhythm. Each student receives personalized guidance to improve precision and musicality. I help students become confident in different bowing styles. Warm-ups and exercises build consistency and accuracy. The methodology supports expressive playing and sound quality. Students learn to control tone, articulation, and phrasing. Focused practice helps produce beautiful, clear violin sounds.
