About Maria S
Hello, I'm Maria Silvana. I'm a native Italian speaker originally from Milan, so I have a North Italian accent. I've been residing in an English-speaking country for several years. I have earned a Master's degree in teaching the Italian language and culture to foreigners, and I am a certified online tutor. Additionally, I authored the book "Didattica della lingua straniera e nuovi spazi di apprendimento: il Blended Language Learning," where I provide foreign language teachers with theories and practices for a comprehensive approach to learning, both in the classroom and online. I am thrilled to guide you through the wonders of my language! My Italian language and culture lessons are meticulously structured based on the Common European Framework (CEFR). With my guidance, you'll have the opportunity to obtain the European certification, should you desire. I am well-equipped to teach every level of Italian, catering to both beginners and advanced learners. I specialise in Blended Language Learning. While I exclusively offer online lessons here, I am dedicated to crafting a personalised learning journey for each student. Utilising interactive methods and technology, I'll tailor the curriculum to align with your interests and requirements. The overarching goal of my lessons is to enhance all language skills, encompassing reception, production, interaction, and mediation. I place a strong emphasis on practical language learning. My teaching approach is communicative, based on the constructivism method. I focus on developing your ability to express yourself and understand others and to know the elements of Italian culture that will give you the right skills to communicate properly with a native person avoiding intercultural misunderstanding. The online lessons allow active participation and interaction. You will have the opportunity to put the language structures and vocabulary studied during the lesson into practice in real-life situations, thus accelerating the learning process and enhancing your love for the Italian language and culture. The input I use is carefully selected based on your linguistic competence and interests. The sources are textbooks (I will provide them), and authentic material such as videos, songs, ads... I teach any level from beginners to advanced (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2). I pay special attention to the practical learning of the language. Communication is everything when you wish to learn a foreign language, that’s why you will communicate with me in Italian from the very beginning of the course. I have studied English, German and Japanese. I know how hard it can be to use in real situations what you have studied in books. With my lessons, I will support you to use the Italian language to communicate. I will create for every one of my students a personalised path using loads of interaction and communication, thanks also to the technology, and I will plan your learning based on your interests and needs. The aim of my lessons is to develop all four language skills: reception, production, interaction and mediation.

The class lasts 60 minutes and it is a one-to-one lesson. For group lessons, please contact me for a quote.
Duration of the packs:
- 5-lesson pack: The lesson pack is valid for 8 weeks from the date of purchase. This allows flexibility if you need to reschedule a lesson due to unforeseen circumstances.
- 10-lesson pack: The lesson pack is valid for 16 weeks from the date of purchase. This provides ample time to complete your lessons while still accommodating occasional scheduling conflicts.
The difference between buying a single lesson and a pack is that if you buy the pack, you can schedule the same day and time for the entire duration of the pack (if you wish, you can have your Italian class always on the same days at the same time). Days and times of single lessons can be proposed each time you buy them and day and time are based on availability.
There’s no need for you to purchase extra books, as I’ll be supplying all the essential materials required for your studies.
Lessons must be booked/accepted at least the day before to secure the slot. Lessons proposed on the same day may not be accepted.
Cancellation policy: Superprof.ie authorises the student to cancel a lesson at least 24 hours in advance. In this case, it is fully refunded. If you cancel less than 24 hours before the start time, this will count as a cancellation. You will normally have to pay for the instructor’s time and the class will be deducted from your pack. So, in this case, there will be no refund.
