About Sara
I am a recent graduate from the University of Houston where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Psychology as a member of the Honors College. I have about five years of full-time professional tutoring experience, and I am currently teaching both independently and in partnership with school districts across the country. Calculus is my favorite subject to teach, and I have a long history of glowing reviews from my Calculus students. Students often tell me that the way I break down the concepts makes the coursework feel much easier, and I often hear students tell me they feel like they finally can understand their math course. I teach students with a variety of age levels, backgrounds, and career goals, so I have a decent amount of experience with common major-specific application questions. I currently only teach up to college Calculus I, but in the future, I do plan to offer tutoring for more advanced levels of college Calculus. If you take high school pre-calculus, AP Calculus I, college pre-calculus, or college Calculus I, then I am the tutor for you! I took 14 AP classes in high school, earning college credit and high grades for all of them, most notably a 5 on AP English Lang and a 4 on AP Calculus AB. I genuinely enjoy teaching, and I would love nothing more than to see my students succeed.

I create my own lesson plans based on the standard curriculum for each student's grade level, and I always make sure to research any differences there may be between different state standards across the US. I personalize my lesson plans for each student, catering to each individual's learning style, and focusing on what they need the most help with. A typical session will start with an introduction of what we will be going over that day, followed by a few minutes of explaining that day's concept. Next, I will work through practice problems with the student, walking them through the process. After the guided practice, I will have the student work on practice problems on their own, going over their answers with them when they are done. To end the session, I will summarize what we went over that day, and we will briefly discuss what we will be working on in the next session. I do not usually assign homework, but I do provide extra practice and review materials with answer keys as needed. Students are welcome to request a lesson over a specific topic at any time, and I always encourage my students to bring any past or current relevant materials from any courses they are taking, whether that be homework, graded past tests, or review/study guides from their teachers. I will not do a students homework for them, so please do not bring homework that you have not attempted outside of the session. I will check your work for you, and I will walk you through homework questions as needed, as long as you have shown a genuine attempt to try the problem on your own first. If you bring a blank homework sheet to tutoring, I will save it to use as your independent practice for the day. Ultimately, it is the student's responsibility to make sure that bringing an assignment to tutoring is not violating their school's academic dishonesty policy.

In high school when I had questions Sara always had answers from math to science to English and writing. Even occasionally now I’ll get help from her in a few college essays. Overall Sara is kind so it reflects in her ability to help with the subject and achieve success in a cohesive and understanding method.
Sara has been a fantastic tutor for my daughter. She’s prepared and thorough with her explanations. Highly recommend her!
Sara is conscientious, methodical, and compassionate. She meets people where they are at and helps them truly understand concepts, not just memorize factoids.
Sara has an incredible work ethic where she methodically breaks down complex goals into disciplined tasks that can be accomplished in daily increments. These building blocks are essential to success as Sara has proven in many endeavours.
