About Sofia
I was born in Colombia and moved to the United States at the age of seven. I have always loved working with numbers and when I moved here I was exposed to so many more opportunities in math and engineering. I joined robotics clubs and became many teacher’s assistant. I am now a mechanical engineering student hoping to later focus on aerospace engineering and one day work with NASA.

I believe that every person has their own way of learning. I am patient and enthusiastic about teaching mathematics. I value understanding over memorization, so I believe that each student should understand the reason behind anything done in math.

A typical lesson plan includes:
- Addressing any questions the student may have to begin
- Assessing a student’s academic needs (Strengths/Weaknesses)
- Explaining/teaching any topics of struggle. I like working through an example problem and explaining step by step what to do as well as WHY each step is done.
- Exercise challenging topics through practice questions
- Reassessing academic struggles
- Answering any remaining questions and sharing notes/study guides from tutoring sessions so that students can look back and refresh at any time.

Sofia is the perfect tutor for anyone seeking help in any Spanish class. Not only being a native speaker, but has the ability to give solid explanations that can improve one’s Spanish skills.
