Hey! I am a 22 year old Ancient History graduate who now teaches bass guitar to all ages and abilities in Brighton. I have been playing bass since I was 7 and teach a variety of genres and styles.

About Jasper
I've taught bass theory and practice for the past 3 years whilst at uni in Manchester and am now living back in Brighton where my band gig regularly. Last year we played at Glastonbury, and headlined the Troubadour in London, so I can give advice to any aspiring live musicians and develop their playing and theoretical ability! In my teens I played bass at Montreux Jazz Festival for Brighton and Hove Youth Big Band where I leaned a variety of session skills including sight reading and ensemble playing.

My lessons are oriented around the student's interests, so what ever you're into, whether it be jamming along to tunes, improving your fretboard knowledge or practicing sight reading, that's what we'll focus on! I will always be introducing new techniques and styles in order to improve and develop a wide vocabulary of bass guitar skills and knowledge.
The structure of a session will depend on the objectives of the student, but I will always begin with a warm up. I believe that it is important to have a good understanding of scales in order to take your playing to the next level, but I try and make scalic theory more fun by using this knowledge to solo around chord structures (rather than monotonously going through the motions!).
